Jour 24 - nouveau record/a new record

5 juillet : Indian Head - Virden

I just want to remind you all that i blogging using my blackberry... it's easier to write a little bit every day rather than do several days after the fact on a pc. so, as soon as I have access to a pc that isn't locked up, I will post my photos.

- me laver
- acheter de la nourriture
- souper
- préparer mes vêtements du lendemain
- ranger le contenu de mes sacoches
In the evenings, there are certain things that have to be done which can't wait: set up camp, get washed, buy food, eat, prepare my clothes for the next day and tidy my saddlebags.
Usually I finish around 9:00 pm so I blog in bed!

Since I finished early yesterday, I did some laundry and lit a campfire.

On the road I saw a diner that was also a Coca-Cola museum. Open every day at 6:00a.m. .... except the weekends! Too bad, it looke interesting, I took some photos through the windows.

The wheat in the fields has waves like an ocean.... very pretty.

The wind is strong. At the start the wind was coming from 2-3 o'clock and there were more faux plats which kept going up. After an hour and a half of pedalling my average was 23. And then..... I had a real faux plat which was going downhill... add to that the wind at my back and I was going between 33 and 38 but the last 20 km were at 40! It's the first time that my average speed increased during the day instead of decreasing.

Je change de province et d'heure. Fini la Saskatchewan (enfin). Je suis maintenant au Manitoba.
I'm changing provinces and time zones. byebye Saskatchewant (finally!). I am now in Manitoba.

There are some pretty buildings in Virden, I'll take some pictures tomorrow before I leave.

vendredi 4 juillet 2008

Jour 23 - je m'arrête ou je continue. Ou j'en suis, à la fin ou au début.

4 juillet Régina - Indian Head
Distance 73 km, durée 3:21, moyenne 21.7.

J'ai mangé (trop) dans un buffet. Il fait 33. Je pompe la steam. Le camping possède une piscine. J'arrête!
I ate (too much) at a buffet... it's now 33C... i'm pumping steam..... the campground has a pool .... i'm stopping here!

At the campground I met Stan who is going all the way to Halifax. Stan, a gentleman of a 'certain age' is from the U.K.

I'm less than 500 km from Winnipeg!

Jour 22 - deal or no deal

3 juillet Lumsden - Régina
Distance 35 km

Repos. Visite.
A resting and visiting day.

Strangely, in Victoria Park there is no statue of the queen, onloy a life size statue of Sir John A. Macdonald .... maybe we could do a swop.

Jour 21 - il y a des jours comme ça/there are days like this!

2 juillet Manitou Beach - Lumsden.

Crunch, i broke one of the clips on the strap that hold my cooler - by walking on it in my cycling shoes. I can crush rocks with these shoes, imagine what it did to my little nylon clip!

Supper was a mess, the bread I bought today was green inside (no breakfat either!); in my noodles, the little pack of flavouring was missing; my gas bottle is empty (no coffee either!).

Jour 20 - l'eau est salée

1er juillet : Saskatoon - Manitou Beach

I wanted to see this salt lake. Since I've already done 50km to the south, I may as well go to Regina afterwards.

It smells of the sea. I go to the spa, it's huge. The water comes from the lake and there is so much salt that I float! The pool has three section heated to 38, 40 and 42 Celsius. It's the most relaxing thing I know.

Drying out and cleaning of the tent and of the bag that got wet yesterday.
Défilé et feux d'artifice.
Parade and fireworks.

Merci.
I've been watching this guy (Doug) work... he's so good and so fast that he looks blurred on the photo. My bike is in a-one shape. I didn't realize how much my wheel was slowing me down. My steering has also been fixed ... i'll have to adapt to it because apparently I was oversteering. The 'bike doctor' has a super shop. Thanks!

J'entame ma deuxième sangria en me disant que je dois absolument me trouver une piscine. Il fait 33 degrés.
I'm starting on my second sangria and I absolutely have to find a pool. It's 33C!

I'm dedicating this paragraph to Jennifer because of 'water' ('eau') and maybe it'll remind you of the Gaspé!!!

J'adore mes sacoches Ortlieb!
It's now 23h15 and there's a huge storm going on. The tent is holding up but the water outside is rising in the lobby. 23h25 - there's now 2 inches of water around the tent, it's seeping under the bottom of the tent and my air mattress is floating even though the water is outside and not in the tent. It's a very strange sensation. I waited half an hour for the water to go down and I went to sleep. The only casualty was an empty bag that I had put flat on the floor. I love my Ortlieb saddlebags!

lundi 30 juin 2008

Jour 18 - doubilidouwow

29 juin : Rosetown - Saskatoon
Distance 117 km, durée 4:28 , moyenne 26.2
june 29 - Rosetown to Saskatoon
117 km - 4hrs 28 mins - average 26.2
La route est ennuiyante sans bon sens. The road is boring without any interest.

Even though i have crossed another time line, Saskatchewan does not use daylight savings time so I am still two hours behind you.

I`m going to take a day of rest, fix my wheel and check out the city.

They have a little jazz festival!!
